Silk Wolf

By Jeanz.

I came across Destin Jacobus aka Silk Wolf on SoundCloud and immediately started jumping up and down listening to his CrunkLectro track "Swerve." He's a DJ, Producer and Graphic Artist coming out of good 'ol ATL.

Like me, he experienced the wonders of electronic music at a young age, passing out electronic tapes at middle school, and it was only a matter of time before he too was mixing and DJing. His activities are numerous and impressive, as seen on his website bio.

Destin was nice enough to provide us with an Midnight Thriller Mini-Mix that is oh-so-good on the ears:

I'm sure we'll be hearing much more great electro from Destin on YoothBrigade here in the very near future! Be sure to show him some myspace love.

Party Sausage + The funnest thing ever??

By Jeanz.

Back when I first heard Partyshank's "Penis Vs. Vagina" I knew it was going to be a non-stop flow of fantastic original music. Even when split off and doing their own thing Christian Shank (aka A1 Bassline) and Party Sausage keep providing the masses with more and more Jump-up tracks with that signature warbly (for lack of a better word) basslines. Take PS' new rmx for Kids In Glass Houses "Give Me What I Want."

And while you're enjoying the track, watch this vid of "possibly the funnest thing ever!"

Junk Solo - Fist Fulla' Bullets!

By ~ Yooth Brigade ~

Junk Solo, a Chi based electro duo, has just
released a killer new track, "Fist Fulla Bullets" featuring rhymes from Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. I love the way Hip-Hop and electro blend, and this tracks shows how well the right slicin' and dicin' can make for one great banger!

[BACKUP]

Also n'joi Junk's original "Genius Since the '80s" and their rmx of Chi's own b-more rappers Tha Basix "Doin' Things Major"!!

[BACKUP]

Oh!! and before I forget, The Hood Internet recently came out with an fkn sick mix entitled "The Hood Internet vs. Chicago" and it features a great Basix mashup "80s Problems (Tha Basix vs Mahjongg)". Hood Internet is king when it comes to mashups and this one really hits home!

Chk it!

StHeart Clothing!!

By Jeanz.

Despite currently being a Chicago based blog, I am always happy to see good things popping up from my home state, take for example this amazing clothing line based in Romeo, Michigan. Stheart Clothing pretty much sums up everything I love about graphic tees in fell swoop: bright colors, v-necks, incredible designs as well as that "just-the-right-fit" look.

Stheart started somewhat as a brainstorm during class 5 years ago between Aaron Smith (sole designer) and his partner Willie, and would be just that for a few years. After limited production of a few tees gave them enough of a budget, they really started throwing a decent quantity of sick designs out there.

Chk out these incredible photos:

What can you expect for Stheart in the future? Well, their Winter Line for starts. It drops November 24 (see top image for some sneak peaks). And you can be certain to see plenty of big things coming from this amazing line.

Okay! Wipe the drool of your keyboard and get clicking! Chk the Stheart Online Store, and be sure to stop by their myspace as well!

La Dolce Vita + Kill Hannah

By Jeanz.
La Dolce Vita never fail to impress me with their rmxs. Especially their two new official rmxs for fellow Chi-townians Kill Hannah.

Hard hitting, yet airy at the same time, these tracks reach a wide audience and demand radio play.

Download. Spin. Repeat.

Cicada - Falling Rockets

By Jeanz.

I havn't really heard much from the UK's Cicada since maximal kings Mr Miyagi's stellar rmxs of "Beautiful" and "The Things You Say", which I often listen to when I want to reminisce on the good ol' days when artists like Mr Miyagi were making heads explode left and right.

Well, Cicada is back with a new original track "Falling Rockets" that seems more like an 80's Pat Benetar put down her guitar and picked up a synth instead. The vocals come off a bit eery, but that's just hows I likes 'em!

Enjoy this as well as two awesome driving 80's analog rmxs from Moulinex and Just A Band. And if you like what you hear be sure to chk out Cicada on Amazon!

New KATB Remixes/Shows

By Calyjomoosemoose

You may remember a post a ways back featuring OKC's Kids at the Bar. Well they have just released two fresh remixes to be posted here on YoothBrigade, DATA's "Rapture" and Ultraviolet Sound's "OCD". In typical KATB fashion, both remixes are party fueling club tracks. Judging from their upcoming parties in October, it seems the talent of these two is getting some recognition. KATB will be playing two shows with Hollywood's Paparazzi, following those they will be joining the IHEARTCOMIX crew( Franki Chan & The Toxic Avenger) in November for two shows. Check the remixes and love 'em up on Myspace.

Le Castle Vania - Need We Say More?

By Jeanz.

YoothBrigade favorite Le Castle Vania has finally released his long-awaited new single "Zero Machine" and is now sharing it with you, for free!

Note that this is a Le Castle Vania original that samples grunge icons Smashing Pumpkins. LCV still provides the bass, drums, grinding synths and all that distortion that we've come to know and love. Each single this guy releases continues to impress, and let me tell you, just wait for the bass to drop. wow!

Need more LCV? Chk his record labels Always/Never and So Sweet.

More Weird Tapes

By Calyjomoosemoose

Nightstalking and TV Romance could be my favorite Weird Tapes tracks to date. While Nighstalking holds a head bobbing nostalgic feel, TV Romance sounds suspiciously Hail Social-ish (in a good way of course). See Hailsocial.blogspot.com for more beautiful music from Weird Tapes, Hail Social and Memory Cassette.

SELECTRONICS

Delighted to these tracks in the inbox. It's nice to see some fresh stuff coming outta the Murder Mitten from a city other than Motown. SELECTRONICS.

Black Holes - Shake Them Shoulders!

By Jeanz.
I really like what I've been hearing out of Chicago these days, especially the juke-house tracks that local badasses Black Holes have been delivering as of late. And obviously I'm not the only one who likes what they're hearing, seeing as how the duo is playing with living legends MSTRKRFT at DoubleDoor (see ad to your right) on October 7 as well as a much-anticipated iHeatComix tour featuring the Toxic Avenger and Franki Chan at Sonotheque.

But seriously, if there ever was electro to sip that drink and pump a fist to, this is it! Complete with plenty of finger-snaps, grungy-ass basslines that just scrape across your eardrums, poking that part of your brain that says "shake them shoulders, shake them hips!" featured in their two originals "WarDrums" and "I'm a Beast". Do yourselves a huge favor by downloading these tracks and showing your friends with profuse smiles and backslaps. And while your at it be sure to pick up Black Holes fucking awesome "Future Shock Mix".

All I know is that you can expect to be seeing a lot more of Black Holes around Chicago and god knows I'm ready for it!

Go on and show Black Holes some myspace love!

Pillage!!!! is back!

By Jeanz.

Pillage!!!! has once again returned to YoothBrigade, and, aside from the jaw-dropping new avatar, have been busy pumping out new tracks left and right. Now, I love all kinds of electro music, and Pillage brings something new to the table that I've been starving for a bit as of late: originality. They cut through barriers (bringing back a bit of that breakbeats nostalgia that I've really been missing since the early 00's) and cross over lines with the originals "Dorothy", "Pills" as well as their new remix of the Pussycat Dolls "Buttons" that I really just can't wait to spin....

Chk It!

Old School Reunion - Just Robotica (Pillage Remix)

Pussycat Dolls - "Buttons" (Pillage rmx)

Pillage - "Pills"

Overthrill - The Thrill!

By Jeanz.

Overthrill is certainly no stranger to YoothBrigade, seeing as how I'm such a huge fan of their relentless "glitch-disco" tracks. From the first hit of the kick, to that last slap of the bass, this track will keep you bouncing from start to finish!! Good luck staying seated in your computer chairs for this one....

Show Overthrill some of that myspace love!

La Dolce Vita

By ~ Yooth Brigade ~
Hey Chicago!!
I was recently at Debonair Social Club and I ran into La Dolce Vita. They were spinning some of my favorite tracks that I was happy to finally hear someone dropping, but then I found out they produce as well; something you often hear from Dj's. But little did I know that these two fellows were two of Chicago's most up-and-coming producers, shredding apart remixes and slaying originals like it was their day job -- oh wait, it is!

When waking up in a sky-rise apartment overlooking the beautiful Lake Michigan, it must not be hard to find inspiration, however, these kids really know how to make these tracks snap, and the music truly speaks for itself. Take the Katy Perry rmx for instance: I really didn't care for the original, but once I heard their rmx, I couldn't stop listening to it! Each track is unique with vocal chops like a goddamn robotic sushi chef and bassdrops that will make anyone in a club get up and dance-that-ass-off!

Boasting acclaimed rmx's of Shiny Toy Gun's "Le Disko", Yelle's "Mon Mellieur Ami", Femme Fatality's "Lucky Lover" as well as Mindless Self Indulgence's "On it", more bangin' and suped-up as ever, prepare to have La Dolce Vita repeating on that iPod for a while!!

Chk it!

Be sure to expect more from LDV in the very near future and look out for their upcoming remixes:

Lulu Rouge - Sweeter Than Sweet [La Dolce Vita rmx]
2008 [coming soon]
The Faint - Forever Growing Centipedes [La Dolce Vita rmx]
2008 [coming soon]
InnerPartySystem - Die Tonight, Live Forever [La Dolce Vita rmx]
2008 [coming soon]
Kill Hannah - Crazy Angel [La Dolce Vita rmx]
2008 Roadrunner
Kill Hannah - Boys & Girls [La Dolce Vita rmx]
[coming soon]

Be check up on LDV's Myspace for upcoming shows in Chicago and around the country! I'm can tell you I'm definitely going to catch them at the Crimson Lounge on OCT24 and you should be there too!

IkkI - We Are....EUROPEAN!!

By Jeanz.

Yo chk this rad new producer: IkkI! He's half french, half spanish and currently residing in Madrid, Spain. He's been spinning around Madrid for a few months and just recently started producing. I really like what I'm hearing, from the upbeat rmx of the ultra-badass synth-punkers Brilliants "Tion" and especially the vocoding on his original EUROTRASHERS, boasting the iconic words "we drink before we are 21, we drive at 18 years old. We don't pay for medicine drugs:
we are European!!"

I love these guys and I truly think you will too!

Enjoy both of these tracks!
